Dra. Vanda Nogueira

(Portugal)

  • Vanda Nogueira licenciou-se em Medicina na Faculdade de Ciências Médicas de Lisboa em 2002 e especializou-se em Oftalmologia no Instituto De Oftalmologia Dr. Gama Pinto (IOGP) em Lisboa em 2009. 
  • As suas principais áreas de interesse são a inflamação ocular e as doenças da retina, tendo realizado um fellowship no Departamento de Retina Médica e Uveítes do Moorfields Eye Hospital em Londres nos anos de 2009 e 2010.
  • Desde 2011 faz parte do corpo clínico do IOGP, integrando os Departamentos de Retina Médica e de Inflamação Ocular. Desde 2011 integra também o Departamento de Oftalmologia da Associação Portuguesa dos Diabéticos de Portugal. 
  • Coordenou no biénio de 2017-2018 o Grupo Português de Inflamação Ocular

Dr. Carlos Pavésio

  • Dr Carlos Pavesio is a Consultant Ophthalmic Surgeon for the Medical Retinal Service at Moorfields Eye Hospital, London, UK. He was the Medical Retina Service Director between 2008 and 2016. He is also an honorary Clinical Lecturer and Uveitis theme leader for the Biomedical Research Centre, Institute of Ophthalmology, London and Honorary Consultant Ophthalmologist at St Thomas’s Hospital in London. He obtained his medical degree from Paulista School of Medicine in Sao Paulo (today UNIFESP), Brazil, where he stayed as a resident and completed his master and doctoral studies in Ophthalmology in 1987 and 1991 respectively. He also undertook a fellowship in Ocular Inflammation at the Proctor Foundation in San Francisco (1988-1990) and fellowships in External Diseases and Uveitis at Moorfields Eye Hospital (1991-1995). He was appointed Consultant Ophthalmic Surgeon in 1995. 
  • Dr Pavesio is a member of many international ophthalmological societies, including IOIS (International Ocular Inflammation Society), IUSG (International Uveitis Study Group) and the American Academy of Ophthalmology. He was a board member for the SOE and EUPO (European Union of Professors of Ophthalmology). He has been regular lecturer for the ESASO courses, both in Europe and in Asia. 
  • For more than 10 years he has been the organiser of the Uveitis Programme for EURETINA and SOE, apart from having organised more than 10 International Uveitis Courses, both in the UK and abroad. 
  • He has given more than 300 lectures both in the UK and Internationally. He was visiting Professor of Ophthalmology in New Zealand in 2009 and HMDP Visiting Expert in Ophthalmology – Uveitis, Intraocular Inflammation, Medical Retina in Singapore in 2014. He is also a faculty member for the Cole Eye Institute Uveitis Course held annually in Cleveland, USA. 
  • He has been part of advisory board meeting for many companies, including Baushc & Lomb, Allergan, Alcon, Santen, Lux Biosciences and Servier. He has been principal investigator of more than 10 RCTs. 
  •  He is currently a member of the CRG (Clinical Reference Group), representing London and advising on new policies for the introduction of new therapies for the management of inflammatory diseases. He is also involved in the EQUATOR project (Extended use of OCT for the Quantification of Uveitis Activity for Trials Outcomes and Reporting). 
  • His professional interests focus on Medical Retina and Uveitis. Dr Pavesio is the Editor-in-Chief for the Journal of Ophthalmic Inflammation and Infection and a member of the editorial board of the British Journal of Ophthalmology, Ocular Immunology and Inflammation, International Ophthalmology, and Journal of Ocular Infections and Inflammation and Ophthalmology. He has authored more than 10 book chapters and over 140 peer-reviewed publications in the field.

(Portugal)

  • Luís Figueira é médico oftalmologista e farmacologista clínico, integrando o Serviço de Oftalmologia e a Unidade de Farmacologia Clínica do Centro Hospitalar Universitário de São João, no Porto. 
  • As suas principais áreas de interesse são a inflamação ocular e as doenças da córnea e superfície ocular. 
  • Enquanto investigador do MedInUP (Center For Drug Discovery and Innovative Medicines) na Universidade do Porto, dedica-se preferencialmente às áreas de ensaios clínicos, farmacoeconomia e farmacovigilância. 
  • É professor auxiliar de Farmacologia e Terapêutica na Faculdade de Medicina da Universidade do Porto. 
  • Coordena desde 2019 o Grupo Português de Inflamação Ocular.
